Privacy Policy

This policy explains what happens to your information when you use Butter My Toast (“we”, “us”) at buttermytoast.com (the “site”).

Your camera

The site asks your browser for permission to use your camera. If you allow it, the camera picture is processed only inside your browser, on your device, to show the live effects. It is never uploaded, recorded or sent to us or anyone else. Your browser shows when the camera is in use, and you can turn off the permission at any time in its site settings.

The site never asks for your microphone or your location.

Your photos

Photos are created on your device. We never receive them. You decide what happens next:

• Save photo downloads the picture to your device.
• Share… opens your device’s share menu. The photo goes only to the app or person you choose, and their privacy policies apply from there.
• Take another throws the photo away.

What’s stored on your device

The site saves your settings (mirror, square photo, countdown, flash, sound and the photo label) and the last effect you used in your browser’s local storage, so they’re remembered next time. This stays in your browser and is never sent to us. You can remove it by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings.

We don’t use cookies for advertising, analytics or tracking.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any website host, Cloudflare receives the technical information your browser sends when it loads the site, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. It uses this to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, and may set strictly necessary security cookies for the same reason. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy. We don’t use this information to identify you or build a profile of you.

Visitor statistics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit, which pages they view and how fast the site loads. For each page view it records the page, the site that linked you here, your browser, operating system and device type, your country, and page-speed measurements.

It doesn’t use cookies or store anything on your device, doesn’t fingerprint your browser, and doesn’t follow you to other websites. We only see totals, never individual visitors. It never sees your camera picture or your photos. See Cloudflare Web Analytics for more about how it works.

What we don’t do

• No accounts or sign-ups.
• No advertising, social media trackers, or analytics that use cookies or follow you around the web.
• No selling or sharing of personal information, as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
• No face recognition, and nothing about your face or your photos is analysed or kept.

Children

The site is for a general audience and doesn’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know about, access, correct or delete personal information held about you. California residents have these rights under the CCPA. Because we don’t collect or keep personal information, there is usually nothing for us to provide or delete, but you’re welcome to ask at the address below. We won’t treat you differently for making a request.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version here and update the effective date at the top.
